New Week, 2 Finishes Already

Here are two finishes and it's only Sunday morning. Looking good for this week anyway.

Top one is a HeartStrings;bottom one is a Red, White and Blue for a soldier. I have a second RWB ready for quilting which will hopefully show up here soon.

I just cut some purple centers for a HeartString top that I'll be taking to the Yarmouth April sew-in.

Second Finish this Week

This pair of socks were made from a yarn gift. I'm glad I just checked the label and found they are 100% Merino, hand wash. I'm so used to machine wash, I probably would have washed them with the others. The color is "Fly Fishing" from Knit Picks.

This week's finish

I would like to be able to finish one UFO each week. That certainly would make a dent in them if I am faithful to my new rule. So, starting this week, that is what I am planning to do. And slack off on starting new things.

This HeartStrings quilt has been quilted for quite some time with a binding sewn three-quarters around. Why would I cut and press a binding that isn't long enough? So this morning I removed the too short binding, made a new one and put it on. And I had it done by 9:30. It wasn't as bad as I had been dreading.
Oh yes, this is Bricks and Stepping Stones by Bonnie Hunter.

Onesies

I bought 13 onesies from ebay, ruined 1, and here are the remaining, embroidered with small motifs. These may go to a local church that puts together layettes. If they don't need them, there are plenty of places that do. All Crafts for Charity's February project is "Bundles of Love". I will be making up some things for them - probably machine knit sweaters and hats. That's what I'm thinking right now - that could easily change withing the hour.

Woven Balls - Use up those scraps!

Each ball has 6 strips - 20 stitches x 68 rows, Tension 4. Fun to do and it really does make a dent in those little balls of leftover yarn. See them here on Ravelry. Relief Share is asking for soft toys so I'll send these along with the dolls I finished this week.

Lapghan - Machine Knit

This small afghan is machine knit using up some worsted weight scraps. There are hems on all sides so none of that durned curling of the edges. The yarn ends are crocheted together into a chain and brought to the front. Maybe this would make a good 'fidget' blanket.
Yarn scraps are a lot like fabric scraps in that they never seem to go away.

New Skirt

As soon as I can figure out how to add a new label I will add "clothing".

Anyhow, this skirt is from a pattern I have come to really like. The fabric needs to be drapey and I can put one together in a relatively short time. My friend Mary gave me this fabric - she called it a challis - and I have 2 yards left that I will make a blouse.
I'm going to try to made a piece of clothing a week, maybe for 6 weeks or so. Next I'll be making a long white skirt to wear for "white" occasions at Eastern Star.
