I’ve been slacking off, but I’m back with a crocheted afghan

Thanks to mypoppett.com.au I learned how to join yarn ends so when I finished this Afghan I only had 4 yarn ends to work in. I started with 2 magic big balls of yarn about the size of basketballs. The pattern for the Corner to Corner Afghan is also on her

site.

Stacked Blocks, back and front - design by Jean MaDan

I really like this one. I hope I have time to make anther one in a larger size.

Last post was exciting, was it not?

These screwed up posts seem to be very permanent. Anyone must be careful what they write and then hit publish.

Pictures for yesterday's blog post, well the back anyway

Here’s the back. I’ve hung the quilt twice and still don’t have a picture. Well just use our imagination. That won’t be too difficult - if you’ve seen one tumbler quilt you’ve pretty much seen that all.

Waffle Stitch Crochet Sample

Ooooh, I just love these sunken squares. I wonder if I need to get some yarn for a baby blanket. I’m going to wait awhile and think on it.

Another Large Tumbler Quilt Finished, along with its back

And I know there are at least 5 more of these on the waiting list. Not to mention the baggie of already cut pieces. When I say I love to cut with my Accuquilt die cutter, I really mean it. The back was simple to do since I have a lot of these strippy strips in my “parts department” box.

Whoops, pictures not available. Will try again tomorrow.

Trying AGAIN to get these quilts finished

Here we go again. I must stop looking at “shiny things”. This  is one of many large tumbler quilts and its pieced back. I’m not planning on buying any new fabric so I’ll be making a lot of pieced backs.

#2 Finish for Union Fair

I doubt that Union Fair has a category for ‘rope bowl’. But, just perhaps they have one for ‘Basket, other’. In that case, I’m golden.

#1 Finish for Union Fair

I think I’ll take some things to Union Fair this year to enter in the exhibition hall. I did it a few years ago and it gives me something to strive for. Their premium book won’t be available until June but I pretty much know what I’m going to enter.

This is a baby blanket (for a really long and skinny baby), it’s crocheted with Simply Soft yarn and the pattern is Train Tracks. I will not use that yarn again - it splits, about every 4 or 5 stitches. And it isn’t much bigger that sport yarn. Each row I only gained a little over a quarter inch. Much too slow for me.

I may replace this with something better.

Tumbler Quilt Finish

This tumbler quilt is set 12x12 using large tumblers cut with the Accuquilt. It measures 54”x73”. And I probably have at least four more tops ready to quilt. Not to mention a lot of precuts. I also have two shoeboxes of small tumblers cut. I like the looks of the small tumbler quilts but they take quite a bit more time to get finished.

And...I signed and dated this one. Just in case I become famous and people decide to collect my quilts.

New Project Bag

After all my notions and doodads kept falling off my chair arm to the floor, I decided to make myself a project bag. I have a real nice pattern for a lot of sizes and it doesn’t take very long to put together. My ‘project’ right now happens to be knit hexies. I’ll add a picture of them. They’re knit using leftover sock yarn. Can you even imagine how long it will take to make a throw? Or even a pillow?

Less than a month til pea planting time

Back in 2016, the last year we had peas, I saved probably a pint of seeds. They’ve been in the freezer ever since. I’ve been conducting a viability test and we have 100% germination! Yes! I will be needing help putting up a pea fence but my mouth is watering already for fresh

peas

A Couple Pair of Socks and an Afghan

This month is closing onto the end and where are all the finishes? I have plenty of starts. Maybe I should begin

listing them rather than the finishes.

Today's Finish

A pair of red mittens that have been languishing unfinished in my knitting basket since November. Pattern is ‘The World's Simplest Mittens’ by Tin Can Knits. I believe I downloaded the pattern from Ravelry. If I didn’t have anything else to do, I think I would knit more using up some of my odd balls of yarn. However, the quilt ufo project is tops on my current list.

Socks have been knit for a couple of days, just closed the toes today. Knit Picks Stroll yarn, color: butternut.

Today's Finish

I’m still making all the socks with a hung hem and 3x1 mock rib. I went to a zoom meeting today with 20 or so other sock knitters. One of the things talked about was using the ribbing attachment. I think that will be next. I will try to fit in some practice knitting into quilt finishing. This week's quilt is on schedule. I just

need to sew the binding down by machine.

Today's Socks

 Well, actually yesterday and today.

Printer Trouble

Panic time this morning. I took out the paper tray in the printer to add some light cardstock that I just got. I wanted to print out some things to use in a junk journal. When I put the tray back in, it wouldn’t go all the way in. I thought maybe i'd need a new printer and all the hassle of connecting it to print wirelessly. But, hold on. Don’t be so hasty. Google to the rescue. I wasn’t the only person with this problem. There’s a button in the paper tray that you can push if you want to print legal size paper. Apparently I hit that button when I took the tray out. Pushing that button elongates the tray so you think it isn’t all the way in. Easy fix. Push the button and get the tray back to its regular size. Problem solved.

#3 for 2021. (#1 large tumbler)

I don’t think I’ll put pictures of all the large tumbler quilts. After awhile they all kind of look the same. And I have at least 6 more to finish up. They measure 54” x 73”, a good size for charity donations.

And............I’m finding myself lusting after the 4” tumbler die. I’ll try to hold off because my current rule is to concentrate on finishing ufo's, not starting new ones.

Quilt #2 - of I don’t know how many. Actually too many to count.

This one measures 60” x 72”. I don’t know if it has a name but all the pieces are 2 1/2 inches by 4 1/2 inches. I really miss my quilt holder-upper.  When the weather gets better I should be able to pin to the clothesline. Until then, it’s draped over a chair.

First Quilt Finished n 2021, hopefully not the last

This is a small quilt. Small tumblers. I have many quilts that I want to get finished this year.

Socks Finished Today

Not much to say. The picture says it all.

Happy Birthday to me

So.....for my 79th birthday I ordered a circular sock knitter, an Erlbacher Gearhart. They are located in Missouri and I received it on Sept. 18th.
