This quilt is from Bonnie Hunter - bargello. I put an Uneven Pieced Back from maryquilts.com.
I practiced freehand Baptist fans on this quilt. Lesson learned: don't have such a dark back - it shows EVERYTHING. Next lesson: Have a much better lighting system so you can see not to cross your quilting lines. I think I'll stick to my tried and true freehand - hearts, leaves, double circles, etc. At least til I get the 6 quilts done for the One Woman Quilt Show. This isn't one of them.

Charity Knitting

The online charity group I belong to (All Crafts 4 Charity) is having an 'Olympics' crafting thing. We have teams and there will be prizes. I'm on the knitted sweater, hats and booties team. This is what I did this weekend. This will be going on for a couple of weeks so hope to get some little sockies done to go with the sweaters and hats. These were done on the knitting machine. I still have a full skein of pink that I can do another set of if I can find the time.

Freddy Moran copy quilt

These pictures show the back and front of my "Freddy Moran Copy" quilt. I will be showing this at my one-woman quilt show in April.

One-woman Quilt Show

Pat Fox, head of the quilts showing at Skidompha Library in Damariscotta, asked for suggestions. Says I, "How about a showing of string quilts?" Pat says, "You're on for April."

That means I need to make and/or finish 6 quilts by then. I have one that I call my Freddy Moran copy plus a couple of finished tops. I've got them ready to quilt and will get going on that this coming week.

February posting

Guess it's time to do my posting for this month. Some people manage every day - I'm really lucky if I do it once a month.

Here is a pile of QAYG (Quilt As You Go) blocks I've finished. There are 96, enough for 2 quilts. I've mailed them to Nebraska for there Heartstrintgs sew-in in March.

Socks - Hand and Machine Knit

This pair of socks are hand-knit with 2 strands of Wool Ease. It's a pattern by Joan Hamer and it's really quick. They're nice and thick. I'll be donating these at the next Boothbay Harbor Charity Knitting meeting as well as the red machine-knit ones shown next.
These were knit on the bulky machine using "I Love this Yarn" from Hobby Lobby. The pattern is from Knitsings and I really like the look of the heel. Here's a close-up of the heel:
The Heartstrings quilt group is doing a pillowcase project this weekend.
Tomorrow I'll be mailing off 15 pillowcases to Alycia in Colorado.
If interested in Heartstrings you can go here to find out more.
